Come the month of April 2012, Miss Ghana UK 2011, Miss Mildred Akuba Mamikyi Afoh Edoukou will be in the country to undertake a series of activities. Chief among them will be the Reading Experience with Miss Ghana UK.
The nineteen year old beauty queen is currently a full time student at the University of Bedfordshire where she is studying Interior Architecture. Miss Edoukou (Miss Ghana UK Beauty Pageant) recently won the Best Black Beauty Pageant in the UK, Miss BEFFTA Awards 2011.
The Reading Experience will see the beauty queen running multiple Reading Clinics in Accra and the Tema metropolis. She will be joined at these Reading Clinics by several Radio/TV personalities together with who they will engage the children in reading exciting texts and other academic materials.
The project comes at an appropriate time when standards in our general educational system have disastrously fallen with an increasing level of failed students at the Elementary and High school level yearly.
According to Miss Edoukou, she seeks to highlight the essence of reading among the school children who can best be described as the future of the nation. The Reading Clinics on the other hand are intended to instill in the younger generation the habit of reading.
“Philosophy is defined as the pursuit of knowledge and how best can it be acquired aside reading? Hence, the importance of a Reading Culture especially among the youth who hold the keys to the future of the nation” said Miss Ghana UK 2011.
Aside the Reading Clinics, Miss Ghana UK 2011 will be donating assorted books to selected schools. She will also make public appearances to send home her message.
The Reading Experience with Miss Ghana UK 2011 is supported by Blacks Secret, Spa 216, Budget Rent a Car, Gh-One Entertainment TV and Homebase TV.
